EGYPT
Another very fun, learning-filled couple of weeks, learning lots about the time of the early Egyptians. This was an especially interesting time period and culture for the kids, and so we decided to stretch it out over two weeks instead of just one. This allowed us to really dive in and especially read/talk about what was happening to God's people during this time, too. Our two weeks of fun included...
-making pyramids from boxes
-'mummifiying' dolls (and a certain favorite T-Rex, too, of course)
-making Egyptian 'wigs' and jewelry
-writing 'scrolls' with hieroglyphics
-playing "Egyptian market"
-dressing up like Egyptians, clothing, wigs, and make-up included! (L insisted on being "King Tut", and he was a pretty good stand in, I must say!)
-having a funeral procession for King Tut
-playing "Moses and Pharaoh" (my personal favorite moment: hearing M and L in the other room, role-playing the 10 plagues, and L, playing the role of Moses, yelling out several times, "Let my people go, Pharaoh! Or you're gonna be sorry!!")
-For fun (and learning sake, of course...!), we even watched the very appropriate movies "Joseph, King of Dreams" and "The Prince of Egypt", along with some other very informative National Geographic clips about mummies, pharaohs, and much more
'Twas a wonderful time of learning, full of great memories and lots of hands-on fun.
Here's a little taste of what we learned/did:
Getting our 'Great Pyramid" ready for the week...
Learning about hieroglyphics and trying their hand at some of their own...
My Little Egyptian Ladies, donning 'wigs', bracelets, necklaces, and even make-up...
...and King Tut, himself, enjoying a snack:

Trading and entertaining at the Egyptian Marketplace...
Our very own Egyptian 'funeral procession' to bury our mummy in his tomb:
And finally, our very own Great Sphinx, to guard the Mummy's tomb from any grave robbers:
Oh, one more thing.
We learned how to "Walk Like an Egyptian"!
