So, we went to the mall and found a place to get their ears pierced. M could barely contain herself. She picked out her birthstone (green peridot), and was excited to find she could choose a little flower-shaped peridot. Then we asked C what color she wanted, and she chose pink, of course. However, she didn't really know what was coming.
M was awesome. For a little girl that has pretty low pain tolerance (pokes, bruises, paper cuts, bumps- you'd think they were all concussions, third degree burns, or broken bones!!), she was so brave!! There was a moment where I wondered if she might yell out in pain, but she totally surprised me and just grimaced/flinched. However, once she looked in the mirror, the pain was immediately forgotten, and she was on top of the world, utterly in disbelief that she now had her own ears pierced!! The rest of the day, she'd randomly exclaim to me, "I just can't believe I have my ears pierced! I just can't believe it!" And she loved to show her freshly pierced lobes to anyone and everyone she could. And if I thought she noticed other peoples' ears before her own piercing, well- she comments on every ear that passes us by now! She is now counting down the days to when she will be able to take out her studs and wear other 'fun earrings', like candy canes for Christmas!
Now to C. Well, I have to say that I feel a bit guilty for putting her through this. I thought it would be a neat experience for the sisters to have together. But more than anything, now I regret preemptively doing this for C; I feel like she kind of missed out on the great anticipation and excitement that I got to see M go through as a six year old. Instead, the poor lil' thing cried out in pain, and when I look back at the video I took of her piercing, well... there was fear in her eyes as the girls were getting ready to pierce her sweet little lobes. But alas... what's done is done, and now she and her sister can have fun wearing matching earrings together, right? (Maybe I'm just trying to make myself feel better, eh?)
The Support Team (Da Boys):
Pre-Piercings...
Little does this Sweetie know what's coming!!
Soooooo excited:
Marking the 'right spot' :
Here we go!!!
Their sweet ear piercers:
Mama and her girls, all with their earrings! All smiles....almost!
One day later... feeling much better!
Once I figure out again how to upload video, I have two precious videos of the Big Day, so stay tuned!
By the way, I should mention- though it was a "secret" from Papa, I did ask him ahead of time if he had any strong feelings one way or the other about our girls getting their ears pierced.... and Maia probably gave away a few too many hints to her Papa, who loves to pull hints and clues out of people, leaving practically nothing left to the surprise in the end. Buy hey- he'll still be surprised when he comes home and sees what his girls look like with pierced ears!!
How cool! I can't wait to buy them fun matching earrings :) And Chiara's hair is SO long! Love you guys.

Getting a little caught up on your bloggie makes me wish we still lived close enough to hang out now and then! The pic at the top of your blog is so completely adorable. I can't believe how big your baby boy is already! So sweet.
