Picture of the Day, Courtesy of….Guess Who?!

TADA!!!!

We all laughed so hard- he truly looked like a little cartoon character- like a jail breaker actually !!
I must confess- I was so amused that I didn't bother wiping it off before heading out for the evening activities (okay, so all we really did was sit outside in the car while M had ballet, but still…)
Yes, sometimes comic relief is exactly what the doctor ordered!!

And do you want to guess who the culprit was??

Guess again….it's not who you'd think!!!!

GUILTY!!!!

I could not believe she was the guilty party!!!

Thanks for the laugh, M. It was immensely appreciated!!!!!!

'Tis Official...

I have found my first official grey hair. Yup. I've thought I've seen some before, because my hair is pretty much all the same dark brown color. But after looking more closely, they were not grays, but rather a sun-kissed piece of hair here and there that stood out against the palette of dark brown. However, this was - is - indeed gray. No question about it. Wow. And I have heard from many folks that once it starts, they keep on coming!

Now…. I find myself pondering this age-old phenomenon. It is a contradiction, I must say….

Nobody wants grey hair. In fact, most everyone I know that evidently has greys, does everything necessary to actually hide it, color it, pluck it out, make it disappear, so that you don't even know they have grays!

Okay….so then you regularly hear that gray hairs are the effects of stress….

Of course, we all know that 'gray hair' is often associated with aging and feeling old.

And yet… I recall always hearing that grey is a sign of wisdom.

So….what is it? Is is a nuisance, something to be avoided, hid, and rid of at all costs? Or is it the absolute opposite: something to be praised for, revered, respected, sought after, hoped for, grateful for? Isn't that how we should feel about Wisdom ?

And how about the most perplexing question of all: is it grey or gray ??? Huh??

What confusing creatures we are!

I was curious about what Scripture has to say on the matter. (King James translations for today)
Here's what I found...

The glory of young men is their strength:
and the beauty of old men is the grey head.
~Prov. 20:29

The hoary (meaning: grayish white) head is a crown of glory,
if it be found in the way of righteousness.
~Prov 16:31

And this, from one of the more beautiful sections of Proverbs, describing a Virtuous Woman… it doesn't speak about gray hair, but rather what indeed makes a woman truly wise:

Favor is deceitful, and beauty is vain:
but a woman that feareth the Lord
she shall be praised.
~Prov 31:30

So! Food for thought!
I will say- for now, I am not rushing down the street to Walgreens for any hair dye!!
I'm going to revel in the idea that maybe, just possibly, I might just be a wee bit wiser today than I was yesterday. :)

(Inside of cards- It even expires....!!! Good thing I used it before the Exp. date!!)

(Explanation needed here: This is a framed picture in our hallway. The kids have been having fun with Sculpting Clay. M (9 1/2yrs) was giggling uncontrollably every time I walked down the hallway. Finally I said, "What's so funny?" She said, "I'm not telling....but you need to look real close when you walk down the hallway."  After looking up and down and all around, this is what I found! She had sculpted and fitted a lovely orange mustache upon her mother's upper lip!!!!!! I couldn't stop laughing! A little later, after the other kids caught on, here's what I found later....

(Melts my heart when they love on each other)
